The First Breath”

Before instruments, before language, before music as we know it,
people were already making sounds to feel the world.
Maybe it was a sigh, a call,
or just the rhythm of fire and flowing water.
Those sounds weren’t composed;
they simply existed.
They were proof of being alive.
I’ve always felt that sound—and later, music—
is a conversation between ourselves and ourselves,
and between ourselves and everything around us.
Sometimes I think—
maybe the first sound a human ever made
wasn’t to speak, but to confirm: I’m here.
That breath became rhythm,
that rhythm became language,
and in time, it became music—
and civilization.
So when I talk about “the breath of civilization,”
I don’t mean theory or history.
I mean the space between sound and life—
the moment where breathing itself
became music.
